I'm back ...

 ... in a Christian church.

But, am I not a Buddhist?

I think I read somewhere that life is weird?
Well, it is ... ... and confusingly exciting as well.

It took months, but my search for a quality church (unintentional rhyme) finally culminated at Wildwind Community Church in Flint, Michigan.
http://wildwindchurch.com/

The community is led by David K. Flowers, who has a vision, which is unhurriedly unfolding, patiently waiting upon the saints of God, who are beautifully puerile in their faith. A mustard seed.

The complete lack of pretense is what has drawn me and kept me coming back.

I have found Dave to be available (to all) and completely relatable. We have met twice in my three months with the church and have discovered that we hold very similar views on existence and the Church. I am thrilled to have made the acquaintance of another genuine pastor with a heart for love. When others ignorantly feel the need to belittle Christian leadership, I have the ability to point to Dave, Chris DeTombe, and Bill Amato. Three sincere and humble Men of God, with seemingly uncorrupted spirits.

i had no title, but now the title shall be ZORN.

chilling.
not much to say.
that is a good thing for me. ; )

gonna eat some turkey tacos, and ...
... then rehearse with or without pedro.
hopefully, he can make it out at some point.
much better to jam with someone who can really play the drums.

i pretend to.
sometimes there is timing and structure ...
... other times just randomness.
either way ...
... i always smile and enjoy it.
only ...
it rarely fits within the framework of a band.

i like noise.
i like everday sounds.
i like music that incorporates all of this, and ...
... ample imagination.
offering a listening experience.

i didn't know what to write about, but ...
... now i know.

it's john zorn time!!
zorn's music makes me smile.
it is limitless.
it goes places.
to ALL places.
it is energetic, frenetic and copasetic.

Here he is w/Electric Masada, which is made up of:
John Zorn - Alto Sax
Marc Ribot - Guitar
Jamie Saft - Organ
Trevor Dunn - Bass
Kenny Wollesen - Drums
Cyro Baptista - Percussion

A Major Influence (see: HERO)

www.matthewgood.org
fantastic resource.
fantastic artist.

caught him live with my sister, kerri, at st. andrews hall in detroit, michigan on march 25th.
great show!

doors opened at 7pm, so ...
... we were there, standing on line just before 5pm.
behind only 4 others.

my sister actually recognized the guy standing at the head of the line.
he had been there since 1pm!

the temperature that day was about the mid to high 30's.
brrrr. cold.

well worth the wait!

once inside we secured our spots just behind the steel barricade, about 4 feet from the stage. proof of that is the photo at the top of the blog. i was able to take this picture of the setlist by raising myself up with one arm, on the steel rail, and snapping a photo, aimed as well as possible, at the paper.

interestingly enough, i was also able to gain possession of this very same setlist after the show. i gave it to Kerri for her collection. maybe next time he comes to town, she will get it signed or something? it's all fun!

here's what i could find on youtube from that show.
not perfect sound, lighting or camerawork.
those imperfections are what make us unique.
we are and should own our imperfections.

so ...
these are rightfully, within this blog ... imperfect.
